Nearly 600 submissions were received and judged by 10 local and international judges. In addition to local designers from Hong Kong and China, entries were submitted by designers from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, India, Korea, the Philippines, Macau, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

Projects from North and South America were excluded from the event as the awards focus on designs from the Asia/Pacific region exclusively. The awards spanned a variety of categories including work space, public space, shopping space and food space, among others. Judging was based on a list of criteria that included environmental concern, aesthetics, creativity, functionality and cost effectiveness.
